The 2024 Mayborn Museum Community Survey
The Survey
Was sent to members of McLennan County aimed at gathering the communities' valuable insights from their perspective so that the Mayborn may enhance the museum experience to be more inclusive, ensuring that it resonates with diverse communities, including those with learning disabilities. Their suggestions and recommendations will play a pivotal role
in shaping their future exhibits and programs.
They were highly encouraged to share the survey with other people so that we may have a wide range of responses.
Women's History Month Pop-up Activity
We created and facilitated three separate activities: creating a log house for architecture, a water diaper simulation, and “Thank You and Appreciation” letters to women in audiences' lives. The log house and water diaper simulation correlated with two women we highlighted, Maya Lin and Kiara Nirghin, an architect and an environmentalist.
Lifelong Learning in Museums: The Impact of the 55+ Community
Academic Poster

Abstract:
The Lifelong Learning program at the Mayborn Museum caters to the 55+ community of McLennan County. This program is a semester-long program of about 15 courses that are facilitated weekly for one and a half hours per week. Each course is held for four weeks at a location in the museum. The most popular location is the theater, which has a capacity of about 179. At the end of each course, each participant receives a survey via email.
The survey asks a series of open-ended questions such as:
-
The performance of the Mayborn Staff and the Public and Community Engagement team.
-
The instructor's ability to teach the subject matter and engage the audience.
-
Whether the participant enjoyed the course or if there is anything that could make it better.
-
What sort of topics would they like to see in the future.
-
What instructor they enjoy the most.
The survey tries to ask the participants as many questions as possible to make the next semester more enjoyable. The Public and Community Engagement team uses the information gathered from the survey to improve the program. The Lifelong Learning program at the Mayborn Museum has slowly grown and improved adult membership at the Mayborn Museum. It has reached an audience that was previously under-served by the museum. This poster will explore the data collected by the Lifelong Learning Survey, including the increase in museum membership and member satisfaction.
